20 mins from the historic town of Braidwood, our property which is set on the Shoalhaven River between rolling hills in the Southern Tablelands, is a beautiful, peaceful place to spend time. We are lucky to have spectacular clear, starry nights, with zero light pollution. The river has birdlife, kangaroo and wombat visitors and if you’re lucky you’ll see one of the platypus residents!
Our house is a modern, very efficient home with excellent air-conditioning and a wonderful log burner for winter (logs fully stocked and stacked!). Lots of space and garden beds outside with herbs and vegetables all year round.
We have plenty of animals to keep us company here; three super-friendly dogs roam around a huge front yard, and seven sheep, two llamas and a retired horse graze the paddocks. They are all really easy to look after. Everything is set up for simplicity. Three chickens provide eggs for the household. Our neighbours are very helpful, and we all keep a look out for each other.
Braidwood is picturesque town with great shops, cafes and all the local services you need. It’s also only an hour from Batemans Bay with fantastic beaches, and from Canberra with all its cultural attractions and the convenience of the airport. It’s also possible to reach us here by train via the nearest station at Tarago, which is less than an hour by road.
